About the Dolphin Explorer

The 10,000 Island Dolphin Study Team monitors the activity of local bottlenose dolphins found in the Marco River. The team's findings help them to identify each dolphin, their social patterns, travel range and genealogy.

The Dolphin Explorer is a 47-ft. catamaran powered by two 300 HP outboards capable of carrying up to 49 passengers. Because of its design, it is perfect for both navigating the water of the Gulf and the backwater estuaries of the area.

An excellent platform for survey work, it’s unsurpassed  to observe marine life and for photography. The Dolphin Explorer’s design and power are perfect for wildlife viewing and for fabulous photographs.

The vessel provides a choice of sun or shade for those with children, a “head,” complimentary water, and shelling bags. Be sure to bring sunglasses, your camera, sunscreen, and any snacks you and the family might enjoy.

There are two Marco Island dolphin survey trips daily, one in the morning departing at 9 a.m., the second departs in the afternoon at 1 p.m.
